My first entry on the
My first entry on the blog page! Anna (Greg and Carrie's cat) keeps trying to
lay on my arm as I type....
So, to sum up this summer: most of you know I was working at the YMCA in Ann
Arbor as the director of the Youth Volunteer Corps Summer Program, a
volunteering organization for youth in the community. That program ended
August 6; I worked at Clarkston High School's band camp last week and am
getting ready to go to Seattle and do some intense job searching. I am hoping
to work at another YMCA, especially since I would have so many connections and
I really like the difference it can make in the community. If not at a YMCA,
however, hopefully there will be another position where I can work with youth.
It seems so ironic that I was in college for four years and didn't know what I
wanted to do. After working for three months I learned a great deal about my
interests and abilities.
On another note, I broke up with Nelson about a week ago. I think I had known
for quite a while that he wasn't the person I wanted to be with. He is
currently in Israel on a program called Sar-El; he gives relief to an Israeli
soldier for three weeks. He has been working on communication equipment. He
will be flying back tomorrow, Friday, and then driving across the country to
move back to school for his senior year. It was not an easy decision for me to
make, but I think it was for the best.
