Why, why, why?

Today, I was driving over the infamous Alaskan Way Viaduct with Finnegan which has a beautiful view of Seattle and Puget Sound when I pointed out a cement mixer to Finnegan and this is what he said.

N: Finnegan look at the cement mixer?
F: Why?
N: It has cement in it.
F: Why?
N: To make building with?
F: Why?
N: Because people need places to live?
F: Why?
N: Because more and more people are moving to Seattle?
F: Why?
N: Because it's a great place to live?
F: Why?
N: Because Finnegan lives here.
F: Ooohhh!

I remember a story that my high school biology teacher had told us about his son noticing things and all the explanations he had to come up with. It was a great little moment answering Finnegan's questions and at the same time, I know that he is entering a new stage of cognitive development.

From here on out, Finnegan will have many questions and hopefully I'll be able to answer most of them.
