Ambushed by the ooze
And there I was feeling pretty terrible this morning with a throbbing headache and sore throat that felt like it was on fire. I was slumped over in the breakfast nook trying to figure out why I deserved to be in such agony when Finnegan began crying and fussing, needing my attention. So, I picked him up and noticed a pungent odor emminating from his diaper. It was horrific! Especially when a yellow, slimy, gelatinous substance began to ooze out from the edges of the diaper and drip down my arm. Immediate action had to be taken and we dashed off to the bathroom where Finnegan sat down in his tub readying himself for emergency cleaning procedures. Knowing the desperate measures we were about to take, Finnegan grabbed onto the safety bar and held on with all of his might as I started to hose him down with the shower nozzle. With all the strength he could muster and with plenty reserves of good humored fun, he endured the dousing and scrubbing. After the decontamination process was completed Finnegan flashed me a big toothy smile heralding the "mission accomplished" signal and gave me the arms up sign indicating that he was ready to get out of the tub. As he snuggled in the fresh clean towel he flashed me a confident smile communicating that we had thwarted yet another diapering calamity.
It's been more than an hour now and the drama of the situation has since left his mind as he is currently chasing cheerios around this highchair tray with determined outstretched fingers. But, I know that somewhere out there in the not too distant future we will be ambushed again by the merciless yellow ooze. However, next time we will be ready, we will be prepared and we will be victorious!!!!!! Ha ha ha ha ha !!!
