Crying over lullabys

Today Finnegan has been taking lots of short naps and I've been doing all that I can to get him to sleep and so I've been singing to him. This afternoon I sang about 12 songs in a row and he slept while I was singing and then woke up when I stopped. I guess he likes the sound of my voice.

My favorite lullaby is "Baby Mine" from the Disney movie, Dumbo. I've always loved this song, but it wasn't until today that I realized how sad it was in the movie and it just made me cry. I know it's from an animated movie, but I just can't imagine having to let Finnegan go. Doug asked me what was wrong and when I told him, he said that I wouldn't have to give Finnegan away and I just cried even more.

I'm still feeling a little bit sad, guess I'll go hold him for a while and relish the gift of holding my baby.
